Exeland Rod and Gun Club

September 14, 2014 Monthly Meeting Minutes

Started the meeting @ 1:30 so we could get done in time to watch the Packers (they played like crap but the beer was cold and plentiful). We’ll try it again next month so we re-sheduled the October meeting for Friday, Oct 10th @ 6:30. Mark your calendars.

Dean gave a brief Trout Fest financial report but not all the bills had been paid yet. We have a helluva a time getting the wholesalers to let us know what we owe. The preliminary numbers look like we’ll be about the same 2012, but slightly lower than 2013. Should have a more detailed summary at the Oct. 10th meeting.

We will begin trap shooting on Wednesdays, starting Sept 17th. Bring your own shells, club will provide the birds. Not going to have a formal league but it’s good practice and a lot of fun. There was a suggestion to start shooting earlier next year (July/August) before bow and bird seasons begin. Good idea and we’ll try that next summer.

The Exeland Area Association will be dedicating the Sonny Shimko Memorial on Saturday, Sept. 20th. They’ve asked for assistance from our club for food preparation. Just so happens that Dean & Bimbo are doing another event that day so they’ll have their grills hot & smokin’ and can also handle the Association’s request. Thanks guys.

Al Gerber reported the County Deer Advisory Councils will begin their state-wide meetings soon. The Sawyer County meeting is Sept. 22 in Hayward and the public is welcome. Al is the county chairman and Mike Paul volunteered to represent our club. They’ll keep us posted on this very important committee.

Archery season has begun so we started our Buck Pool. Entry fee is $5 and you have until the next meeting (Oct. 10th) to get in. Sign-up sheet is in the clubhouse or you can contact Dean or Al. Winner will be determined by points plus inside spread and just have another club member verify your total. Good luck!

The Prez asked for new project ideas. One thing that was suggested was graveling the “horse-shoe” driveway that circles the camping area in Swan Creek Park. Al said he’d get a price quote before the next meeting.

Jimmy Fish Face was absent but he’d sent word that the HUNTERS BALL will be FRIDAY, NOV. 7TH. Limit of 50 tickets at $50 each. Sign up early to assure yourself a ticket. You can contact Jim (943-2242) or Al (945-2981)

NEXT MEETING WILL BE OCTOBER 10TH (Friday) at 6:30. Please note the change.
